Job Title: Executive Director
Reporting To: Chairperson, Executive Council
Liaises With: Board of Trustees and Executive Council
Supervises: Program Managers, Program Officers, Program Assistants
Administrative Staff
Qualification: Master’s degree in International Development or relevant field from a reputable university.
Experience: Minimum of 10 years’ work experience in an NGO environment, including experience directing and implementing programs. An experienced manager in the corporate sector with similar skills and a strong commitment to development work is welcome to apply.
Skills: Proven track record of leadership and team coordination; strong verbal and written communication skills; strong organizational, administrative and interpersonal skills; strong presentation skills; strong analytical skills; experience in program planning and execution; experience in program monitoring & evaluation; practical knowledge of proposal writing, grant sourcing and donor management.
Overall purpose of job
To direct and coordinate all the activities of WIMBIZ in order to ensure that the organization achieves its objectives and goals, both short and long term; and to ensure WIMBIZ remains true to its vision to be a catalyst and elevates the status and influence of women and their contribution to nation building.
Main responsibilities include:
- Participate in the formulation of the overall policies, strategies, plans and budgets and in mentoring performance/delivery of the WIMBIZ vision.
- Articulate an overall marketing and public relations strategy and plan for WIMBIZ taking into consideration its target market and the profile the organization wishes to maintain.
- Formulate and implement specific and integrated strategies for achieving WIMBIZ objectives within specified time frames.
- Plan and manage the successful execution of WIMBIZ programs and events with the support of the Working Committee and the Executive Council.
- Constantly review WIMBIZ objectives to ensure that they remain relevant; be alert for new opportunities/program activities to further the cause of the organization.
- Manage relationships with WIMBIZ ‘partners’ and Associates on various initiatives; actively plan and support the successful execution of all such initiatives.
- Raise funds with the support of the Executive Council to ensure organizational sustainability, develop and manage WIMBIZ’s budget and ensure transparency and efficient use of the organization’s financial and non-financial resources.
- Produce Annual Report of activities and financial status each year after approval by the Board of Trustees and ensure same is sent to donors’ corporate and individual sponsors, associates and other interested and relevant parties.
- Manage a team of employees, appraise the performance of the team and recommend performance rewards; advise the Executive Council of any required changes in organization structure and recruitment requirements as WIMBIZ grows and expands its activities.
- Any other responsibilities that may be assigned by the Chairperson of the Executive Council.
Duration: Full-time employment
Location: Lagos; note that the role involves approximately 20% of travel
